over all: Alexei stands at a natural height for his age of thirteen and his weight is fairly normal as well. He's lean but he has some muscle on his tummy because he likes to work out. He's already hitting puberty. He has been known to grow stubble on his face but for the most part, only his mentality displays his coming of age. His eyes are baby blue and stand out in a crowd. Like all people, Alexei's smile makes him more attractive but he doesn't smile too often simply because it takes a lot to get him to smile.

history:
Alexei Devon was a Christmas present for Michelle and Davis Devon. Michelle went into labor late December 23rd and gave birth to Alexei Keanu Devon at 3:13am December 24th, 1998.
Alexei, named for his great-great grandfather on his mother's side, grew up very loved but not too sheltered. His parents would talk about world issues with him and taught him to form his own opinions at a young age. The Devons wanted Alexei to think for himself and be prosperous in life because of it. Being UCC graduates themselves, Michelle and Davis enrolled Alexei in United Charter College as soon as they could. Due to his birthdate, he was a bit older than the rest of his classmates because he was enrolled the following year.
For the longest time, Alexei was happy. His only complaint was that people squished Christmas and his birthday together and as warm as the snowman sweater Grandma Moira knitted him was, he couldn't very well wear it in the middle of fall or on a cold day outside of winter without feeling out of place. Only his mother and father seemed to separate his birthday from the holiday, which was alright with him. And Alexei was loved. He made friends and got to hang out with them over the summer.
Everything changed, though, during the summer between third and fourth grade. Alexei found out that his mother had contracted AIDs from a patient at the hospital where she had been working. One of the doctors didn't clean up properly and Michelle faced the consequences of it. For the first 6 months of doctor visits and treatments and perscription fillings, the Devon household was tense. By the seventh month, the trio was adjusting to accomadate the disease Michelle had. Alexei thought everything would go back to normal when the year came to a close. His thoughts had been wrong. During winter break of fourth grade, Michelle died. She didn't commit suicide and the AIDs didn't kill her. She and Davis had secretly been working to get her euthanized but they hadn't told Alexei because they didn't know how he would react.
When Michelle died, Alexei broke. His heart shattered and he locked himself away in his room, not coming out for meals. It got to the point that Davis sent Alexei to live with his parents, Kylie and Alan Devon, in England for the summer. By the summer's end, Alexei was at least eating normally again. He would still cry himself to sleep at night and only speak if absolutely necessary.
Alexei returned to America two weeks before school was set to start, only to find out that Davis was just as broken as Alexei and was throwing himself into his work, working until he was mentally and physically exhausted. For two weeks, Alexei searched for a way to stabalize his life but to no avail and he was shipped back to school for fifth grade.
The young boy cut himself off from his friends and threw himself mindlessly into his school work. He worked his way on to the Honor Roll with straight A's in all his classes even though the only class Alexei really enjoyed was math. By the end of the year, nothing had changed for Alexei. He went back to a mostly empty house and only saw his father on few occasions. About a month in to summer vacation, Alexei's grandparents on his mother's side called him out to England to spent a few weeks with them. Davis didn't object.
Maybe Moria and Dante thought that a few weeks with them would cheer Alexei up when in fact it did the opposite. He had so many memories with his mother and her parents that it just hurt him more and he had to go home early. It was during sixth grade that Alexei found a passion for math more than usual. There was just something about math that made everything easier for Alexei to bear and he threw himself into mathmatics and found himself excelling incredibly at the subject. Over the summer between sixth and seventh grade, Alexei also picked up an interest in non-fiction literature and divvied up his time between reading and math. He just hopes he can get through the rest of middle school and high school quickly and painlessly.
major: alexei's major is mathmatics. he loves math because it's been the only solid, one hundred percent factual thing in his life. there are no exceptions to math and it is something grounded and firm. it appeals to alexei in that way.
anything else?: Alexei fears losing his father (to insanity or loneliness). He fears losing himself in loneliness and secretly hopes for someone to break his shell. He's heterosexual.

There was one big old book store in Diagon Alley that Rayne had frequented quite often during his Hogwarts years. He had pretty much been through the entire shop as much as he could have been since then and he still found nothing that appealed to him. There were a couple book stores in Knockturn Alley that caught Rayne's eye but he'd never had time to check them out. Until now, that is.
That was how the dark haired young man found himself walking through Knockturn Alley. He felt a bit uncomfortable and on edge. His eyes were downcast and, despite his resolve to be cheerful, he felt more than a little darkness creeping in on his heart. He knew, though, that it couldn't be helped. After all, wasn't Knockturn Alley most known for the Dark Arts? It made sense that he would feel a bit dark.
"
This is ridiculous," the dark haired man muttered to himself, ducking his head down. "
All this for some new books?" He did have to admit that Logan's house was somewhat lacking in the literature department. Rae rubbed his arms and glared when some creepy old woman bumped into him abd grinned. He roughly pushed passed her and straightened, looking around the alley for any sign pointing him to the book store he wanted. It took him a few moments but he saw the store and quickly rushed in, shutting the door tightly behind him. He shook himself and looked around, in awe of the variety of books that he could see.
Rayne quickly ducked into an aisle and began browsing. He was surprised that he recognized some of the titles. He dragged his finger tips across book titles and made his way through aisles of books, his mouth curved into a content smile. This was what he needed. Rae brushed some hair from behind his glasses and pushed his glasses up. His dark eyes peered intently at a book title and he tugged it off the shelf, reading the back thoughtfully. Rae never really thought much of some things Dark Arts taught. He'd once thought about studying alchemy to bring back the dead but decided that it wasn't worth it. This book, however, made alchemy seem beautiful. Rayne flipped the book around and opened it, perusing the table of contents. He mouthed his awe and prepared to start reading when suddenly someone bumped his chest.
"
Whoa" Rayne exclaimed, stumbling back. He took a second to reorient himself and looked over at the person who had bumped into him. He adjusted his glasses and stared at the man. Rayne blinked a couple times and cleared his throat. Right. The man had apologized. He was supposed to say it was all good. Right? "
Um." Rayne pulled the book to his chest and brushed his bangs from his eyes, looking remarkably feminine in that moment. "
No, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been just standing here." Rayne smiled at the man nervously.
